Community Guidelines

For teens, parents, and neighbors

Blockwork works because neighbors, teens, and parents can trust each other. These rules apply to everyone.

Keep it on Blockwork

  • Keep all messages and payments inside Blockwork. Don't share phone numbers, emails, social media, or payment apps like Venmo or Zelle.
  • Payments outside Blockwork aren't protected, and accounts that move jobs off Blockwork may be removed.

Jobs happen where they're booked

  • Teens never go inside a home or enclosed building for a job. Work happens outdoors or online.
  • Don't ask to meet anywhere other than the job address in the booking.
  • No jobs that are unsafe or not allowed for a teen's age, including power tools or equipment the law doesn't allow, roofs or tall ladders, chemicals beyond normal household products, or driving.
  • Never ask a teen to buy, carry, or handle anything age-restricted, like alcohol, vapes, or tobacco.

Be respectful

  • No harassment, threats, hateful language, or sexual content of any kind.
  • Don't ask teens personal questions about their school, schedule, appearance, or whether they're home alone.
  • Never ask anyone to keep something secret from a parent.

How messages are screened

Every message is automatically checked for safety.

  • Contact info and payment apps are hidden from the message.
  • Messages that might be unsafe are held for review before delivery.
  • Messages that break these rules are blocked, and a parent and the Blockwork team are alerted.

What happens if someone breaks the rules

Depending on what happened, we may hide or remove content, cancel bookings, pause or remove accounts, and report anything involving harm to a minor to the authorities.
