These Terms are an agreement between you and Blockwork ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Blockwork, you agree to them. If you're under 18, your parent or legal guardian must also agree, and they agree to these Terms for you.
Blockwork is a venue that helps neighbors and teens in the same area find each other for small household jobs. We don't employ teens or neighbors, assign jobs, set prices, supervise, direct or control any work, or provide any services ourselves. Each job is an arrangement between the neighbor and the teen's family. Nothing in these Terms makes anyone an employee, agent or partner of Blockwork.
Neighbors and parents must be 18 or older. Teens must meet the minimum age for their state on Blockwork and have a linked parent who has agreed to these Terms and the parent consent. Blockwork is open only in states we've reviewed, and we can close or limit a state, job type or feature at any time.
A parent or guardian who links to a teen agrees to these Terms for the teen, approves each job, and is responsible for the teen's use of Blockwork and for what the teen owes under these Terms.
Neighbors are responsible for describing each job accurately, listing hazards they know about, following the Job rules, and having an adult reachable during the job. Teens and parents decide whether to accept a job. Prices are set or agreed between the neighbor and the teen's family. Everyone must follow the Job rules.
We don't run background checks or check identities unless we clearly say so for a specific feature. We don't check the quality or results of any job. Use your own judgment about who you work with.
Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms. When a job is booked, the neighbor's payment is held and is released to the teen's payout account only after both sides confirm the job is done. Blockwork's fee is shown before booking and is charged to the neighbor. Blockwork is not a bank and doesn't hold funds itself. You're responsible for any taxes on what you pay or earn. Don't pay or accept payment outside Blockwork for a job found on Blockwork.
If a job isn't done as described, report it before confirming. We'll look at the information both sides give us and may help resolve it, including refunding a held payment. Our decision about a held payment is final as far as Blockwork is concerned, but doesn't limit any rights you have under law.
Don't use Blockwork for anything illegal, harmful or misleading. Don't harass anyone, share another person's private information, or try to contact a teen outside Blockwork without their parent's knowledge. Messages may be reviewed when someone reports a problem.
We may suspend or close an account, or cancel a job, if we reasonably believe it's needed to prevent fraud or harm, to follow the law, or because these Terms or the Job rules were broken. You can close your account at any time.
Household jobs have normal risks, including slips, falls, cuts, stings, bites and heat. To the fullest extent the law allows, you accept those risks, and so does a parent for their teen. Blockwork doesn't monitor jobs in real time. In an emergency, call 911.
Blockwork is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about the app, other users, or any job, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) Blockwork isn't liable for anything another user does or doesn't do, or for injury, loss or damage arising from a job; (b) Blockwork isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages or lost profits; and (c) Blockwork's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid to Blockwork in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
To the fullest extent the law allows, you agree to cover Blockwork's reasonable costs, including legal fees, from any claim caused by your use of Blockwork, your job, your breaking these Terms or the law, or (for a parent) your teen's use of Blockwork.
California law applies, except where your state's law requires otherwise. Before filing any claim, contact us at support@blockwork.online so we can try to resolve it within 30 days. Either side may bring a claim in small claims court. Otherwise, disputes will be resolved by individual binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, not by class action. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first agreeing by emailing us. This section doesn't apply where the law doesn't allow it, including to claims a minor isn't bound to arbitrate.

We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we'll ask you to agree again before you keep using Blockwork.
If part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, the parent consent and the Job rules are the whole agreement between you and Blockwork. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it.
